Family Sleep Workshop
Creating a Healthy Sleep Foundation for Infants Workshop - birth to 18 month olds
There are many changes that take place in a child’s sleep from birth- 18 months old. Having a foundation of information to help guide you through this busy time, will make all of the transitions smoother for the whole family. After 4 months of age a child is capable of getting on a sleep schedule, starts sleeping at specific times in the day and it is the earliest age to start implementing a sleep training program. This workshop will provide parents with an overview of how biology and the environment can impact an infant’s sleep. Sleep struggles with your infant are very common and as a parent you can help get your child through it with ease and confidence if you have a solid foundation in your parent toolbox.
You will learn how to tackle some common sleep challenges with an overview of the most popular sleep training approaches and when it is time to do more to help your child sleep better. In this workshop you will learn, discuss and ask any questions you have in a supportive and warm setting. The discussion will go over a variety of infant sleep topics such as:
-The average amount of sleep children are expected to have from birth-18 months both in the day and night time
-The recommended sleep schedule for each age
-How to create an optimal sleep environment and positive sleep associations
-How to encourage longer naps
-The recommended age to wean off night feedings
This class is intended for parents with children ages birth-18 months, couples are encouraged to attend together to provide one another with support. This workshop can be taken at any point during the first year and a half of your child’s life, but many choose to take the course in the first few months of life to help prepare for when their child is 4 months or older.
