Learn how to incorporate Mudra and Mantra practice into your teaching technique. Both can be used as tools for deep personal practice as well as a way to add dimension to the weekly group and private classes you teach. One hour will be devoted to Mudra. In particular sequences of mudras to attune ourselves to the elements and chakras.
The other hour will be spent working directly with mantras by way of call and response (Kirtan style) as well as via the practice of japa (bring a string of mala beads that have either 108 or 54 beads on them if possible). Our explorations will lead us to mantra in relationship to the natural breath (So Ham), mudra, pranayama and Asana.
Finally, we will dip into shastra (sacred scripture) and see where mantra is mentioned in the Yoga Sutra of Patanjali as well as the Bhagavad Gita. Teachers the world over, as well as going far far back in time, agree that during this time of Kali Yuga, great distraction/strife/ discord, chanting is a quick route to enlightenment.
Come find out what these practices are about, you just might get hooked adding another couple of dimensions to your yoga practice.
