Our First Cause:
The More Than Me Academy of West Point, Liberia, provides access to education as well as health and social services for young girls who are most at risk to sexual exploitation. However, with the spread of Ebola, the school has been forced to close its doors indefinitely. The More Than Me team has partnered with the government, community leaders, and NGOs to form the Community Based Ebola-Free Coalition; this coalition provides information to the community about Ebola and coaches them on prevention, identifies the sick, treats the ill, buries the dead, reintegrates survivors, and supports the families and children of the affected. While the flow of aid from around the world has been instrumental in helping, much more is necessary to ensure that Ebola is eliminated and strong communities are rebuilt.
Our Hosting Teacher:
Matan Cohen-Citron is a yoga and meditation teacher. He started practicing while backpacking through India nearly 12 years ago and has been developing his practice while exploring the different variations. He teaches in a traditional style, incorporating different forms of Hatha yoga aligned with Ayurvedic principals. His classes interweave asana, pranayama, meditation and philosophy in a light-hearted approach manner.
